As usual, there’s a lot of new models popping up for the Paris Motor Show but the latest 911 Carrera is probably head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to excitement levels.
The new lighter, all wheel drive 911 comes with the same engine and suspension options as the rear wheel drive versions but it manages to be 65 kgs lighter thanks to a new aluminium-steel composite body, meaning the new 911 benefits from increased performance and up to 16 per cent lower fuel consumption.
Four versions will be available, the Carrera 4 Coupé, Carrera 4 Cabriolet, Carrera 4S Coupé and the Carrera 4S Cabriolet.
The 911 Carrera 4
The Carrera 4 has a 3.4 litre flat six engine which produces 350 hp, it’s 0-100km/h is 4.5 seconds for the Coupé, or the Cabriolet will do it in 4.7 sec, with a top speed of up to 285km/h for the Coupé or 282km/h for the Cabriolet, depending on specification.
The 911 Carrera 4 S
The Carrera 4 S is rather more powerful with a 3.8 litre flat six giving out 400 hp, it accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds in coupe guise or 4.3 seconds as a cabriolet. Top speeds are said to be 299km/h in the Coupé and again slightly slower at 296km/h for the Cabriolet.
All models will be available with full leather interior, a 4.6 inch touch screen with “Porsche Communication Management” and satellite navigation, climate control, Bi-Xenon headlights, MP3 connectivity and Porsches’ 3 year warranty.
The new 911 will make its world debut in Paris on 27th of September and is expected to go on sale in the UK from December this year.
