Hyundai’s new facelifted i20 is in showrooms now and comes with increased specification as standard and lower emissions with the help of a new 1.1CRDI Diesel engine with a 6 speed manual, and a 1.2 litre petrol engine with 5 speed manual box.
On the outside the new i20 has sharper lines refreshed wheel designs and the updated front grille which brings it more in-line with the Hyundai range. It also comes spec’d out with a few other goodies as standard like rear parking assist and reversing sensors, rain sensing wipers, LED daytime running lights, keyless entry, front fogs and 15 inch alloys. The standard extras which are an upgrade in specification from the previous model continue on the interior with a leather multifunction steering wheel, voice activated Bluetooth, IPOD connectivity and front and rear electric windows.
The petrol offering is a 1.2 with 114g/km putting it firmly in tax band A which is €160 road tax per annum, and it’s claimed to return a frugal 57.7mpg. Their diesel option is a 3 cylinder 1.1 with emissions of only 84g/km from which Hyundai claim a very mean 88mpg. All models come with a five year unlimited mileage warranty, the 5 door petrol elite plus starts at €15,495 and the 5 door 1.1 Diesel comes in at €16,995.
According to Stephen Gleeson, Managing Director, Hyundai Cars, “The new i20 brings a new level of specification previously unavailable to the B segment. The combination of the markets most fuel efficient engine, highest specification level and five year unlimited mileage Manufacturer Warranty makes the i20 a must for consideration, for anyone buying a compact family car”.
