This years Mille Miglia had four official museum vehicles which were prepared by the Alfa Romeo Historic Motoring team and a host of other collectables, amongst them stood the Abarth 695 Maserati Edition, its classic looks allowing it to blend into its surroundings.
This Fiat 500 is a nod to Maserati and is powered by a 180hp 1.4-litre T-Jet engine mated to Abarth’s five-speed, paddle-shift Competizione transmission, its rock solid stance achieved by Koni shocks and 17” alloys filling its wheel arches, stopping power courtesy of four piston Brembo calipers and all to the tune of a Record Monza exhaust system.
Exterior is painted in Pontevecchio Bordeaux, Maserati dark red, while inside is clad in cream leather, matt carbon kick panels and a set of bespoke Jaeger clocks.
All sounds rather lovely, although I’m probably biased as I think the 500 is the best looking of all the re-kindled models and the limited editions make them even more attractive.
There’s only going to be 499 made with an expected price tag of €39,000.
