FIAT is offering the first limited-edition FIAT 500 America to the highest bidder using a unique online platform it calls “TwitBid”. Only 500 examples of the FIAT 500 America will be built and it is possible for anyone with a Twitter account to bid for the very first car off the production line.
Once registered on www.500america.fiat500.com participants can then bid on the Number One car (which will be distinguished by a B-pillar badge bearing the serial number 1/500 and the winner’s Twitter handle) in increments of just €1 with each bid simultaneously generating a Tweet. The bidding starts today (March 1st and continues until March 15th and the highest bidder will win the car – simple as that!
Visitors to the FIAT stand at the Geneva Motor Show will also have the chance to follow the bids in real time on a screen next to the FIAT 500 America.
The 500 America is distinguished by “Stars and Stripes” mirror covers, special decals, 16″ alloy wheels and unique “America Blue” paintwork, and it is powered by a 69hp 1.2-litre petrol engine with fuel consumption of just 5.1L/100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of just 119 g/km.
